Spell-O-Philo 7 -The School spell smartly

In order to tackle the trend of using short forms and SMS language and to give impetus to spelling and pronounciation, St. Thomas School, Indirapuram organized Spell ‘O’ Philo - VII  on 22nd November, 2019, a fun-filled inter school Spelling Competition in the memory of L.L.H. G. Job Mar Philoxenos (Former Metroplitan of Delhi Diocese and Vice President of St. Thomas Schools). The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Renish Geevarghese Abraham, Bursar and the Public Information Officer, St. Stephen’s College Delhi.Twenty reputed schools from Delhi and NCR participated in the competition.The theme of the event was Romanticism 

The competition was organised to reinstate the indispensability of correct spellings. It kept the participants and the audience on the edge of their seats. The highlights of the event were the Audio-Visual rounds. The whole event was nerve wrecking including three laps – Prelims (The Spontaneous Overflow ), Semifinals (Race for Roots ) and Finals (Ruled by the Few).  Out of the twenty schools, five could reach the Finals. Rally International School came out victorious. They won the Rolling Trophy, Cash prize of Rs.10,000/- and mementos. The First Runner up was Amity International, Noida  who won Cash Prize of Rs. 5000/- and mementos and Second Runner up was Cambridge School, Noida  who won Cash Prize of Rs. 3000/- and mementos.

Thrilling, glamorous and nerdy, the competition was linguistic at its best. The spelling extravaganza provides a platform for the best spellers of Delhi and NCR to identify their strengths and achieve recognition for their unique spelling skills.
