A school excursion, also known as a school trip or field trip, is an educational outing organized by a school where students travel to a location outside the regular classroom environment. These trips are designed to provide students with practical learning experiences, exposing them to real-world applications of their studies. Excursions can vary widely in nature, including visits to museums, historical sites, science centers, nature reserves, cultural events, factories, or other places of educational interest.

A Visit to the National Science Centre

Date: 23 April 2026

Students of Class 12 Biology recently visited a biotechnology laboratory at the National Science Centre for an enriching workshop titled “Investigating DNA.” The session offered valuable hands-on experience, enabling students to extract and observe DNA firsthand—transforming theoretical concepts into tangible learning.

Subject experts guided students through essential topics such as DNA structure, replication, and its role in heredity. Demonstrations of advanced techniques, including gel electrophoresis, provided insight into how DNA is analysed in modern research and forensic science.

The interactive and engaging environment fostered curiosity, inquiry, and critical thinking among the students. Overall, the workshop significantly enhanced their practical understanding and successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world scientific applications. The experience also inspired many students to consider future careers in biotechnology and life sciences.
